CRUISE HUBS

As the cruise industry expands and sustainability regulations tighten, ports need modern infrastructure that enhances passenger experience, increases operational efficiency, and supports decarbonisation.

ELIRE Infra’s Smart Hubs provide scalable, floating cruise terminals that allow ports to expand, electrify, and modernize—without the high costs, land constraints, or long permitting delays of traditional shoreside expansions.

Smart Hubs are modular floating terminals that transform how ports manage cruise operations.

Positioned midstream or near shore, they allow seamless embarkation and disembarkation, freeing up valuable dockside real estate for high-value uses such as cargo or large vessel activity.

Equipped with conditioned shore power, they eliminate the need for ships to run their engines while in port, cutting emissions and noise.

A formation of hubs can support up to 2,400 tonnes with over 3,200 square meters of operational space, fully connected to land via gangways and multi-cable utility links.

Ports play a crucial role in global tourism and passenger mobility, but most were built over a century ago - long before the need for electrification, clean fuels, and modern passenger logistics.

To remain competitive, ports must upgrade their cruise infrastructure while balancing efficiency, sustainability, and community impact.

  • Only 2% of ports worldwide have shore power connections, even though 50% of cruise ships are ready to plug in.

  • Traditional shoreside expansion is costly—requiring high capital investment, complex permitting, and long construction timelines.

Each Smart Cruise Hub formation can include dedicated buildings for customs, immigration, passenger services and logistics. Smart Hubs help ports accommodate peak cruise seasons without investing in permanent infrastructure that may be underused during quieter periods.

The result is a flexible, passenger-centred terminal system that enhances the cruise experience while supporting port efficiency and environmental targets.

  • Border control and customs facilities for smooth processing of passengers and crew

  • Covered logistics areas for baggage, supplies and crew transfers

  • Scalable infrastructure that adapts to cruise demand without overbuilding
